Bryson City, NC

One of the Treasures of the Smoky Mountains

Nestled in the heart of the Great Smoky Mountains, Bryson City, North Carolina, is a charming small town that offers a perfect blend of history, outdoor adventure, and mountain hospitality. Unlike some of the busier mountain destinations, Bryson City provides a peaceful retreat with stunning scenery, fascinating history, and endless opportunities for exploration. Whether you're a history buff, nature lover, or thrill-seeker, this hidden gem has something for everyone.

More about Holly…

Bryson City has a rich history dating back thousands of years when the Cherokee people inhabited the region. The town was officially established in 1889 and named after Colonel Thaddeus Dillard Bryson, a prominent local figure. The railroad's arrival in the early 20th century transformed Bryson City into a thriving hub for logging and tourism. Today, while the lumber industry has faded, the town remains a gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and a haven for visitors looking to experience Appalachian culture and outdoor beauty.

Just minutes from town, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park offers breathtaking landscapes, hiking trails, waterfalls, and abundant wildlife. Deep Creek, a popular area within the park, is known for its easy-to-access waterfalls and tubing adventures along the river.

One of Bryson City's top attractions, the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad, offers scenic train excursions through the mountains. With themed rides such as the Polar Express and fall foliage tours, it's a fantastic way to experience the region's natural beauty.

For adventure enthusiasts, the Nantahala Outdoor Center provides world-class whitewater rafting, zip-lining, kayaking, and more. The Nantahala River is one of the best spots in the Southeast for rafting, offering both beginner-friendly and adrenaline-pumping rapids.

Fontana Lake, with its crystal-clear waters and stunning mountain backdrop, is perfect for boating, fishing, and swimming. The Fontana Dam, the tallest dam in the Eastern U.S., is an engineering marvel worth visiting.

A fascinating and somewhat eerie site, the "Road to Nowhere" is an unfinished highway project that was abandoned in the 1940s. It leads to a tunnel that has become a unique hiking destination with a deep historical connection to the displaced residents of the area.

Bryson City’s downtown area is full of charming shops, art galleries, and local eateries. Whether you're enjoying fresh mountain trout at a local restaurant, browsing handmade crafts, or sipping coffee from a cozy café, the town exudes a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Why Visit Bryson City?

  • Authentic Small-Town Charm – Unlike more commercialized mountain destinations, Bryson City retains its local character and laid-back atmosphere.

  • Outdoor Adventure – With easy access to hiking, rafting, fishing, and more, it's an outdoor lover’s paradise.

  • Rich History and Culture – From Cherokee heritage sites to historic railroad adventures, there's plenty to explore.

  • Breathtaking Scenery – Surrounded by the majestic Smoky Mountains, every season offers stunning views, from vibrant fall colors to lush summer greenery.

Whether you’re seeking adventure, relaxation, or a deep dive into Appalachian history, Bryson City is a must-visit destination. With its friendly community, beautiful landscapes, and diverse activities, it’s a place that captures the heart of all who visit. Plan your trip today and discover the magic of this Smoky Mountain treasure!

  2. Register for the Auction:

    • Most online auction platforms will require you to create an account. This involves providing your contact details (name, email, and sometimes your payment information) to ensure you're ready to bid.

    • After registering, you may need to verify your account through email.

  3. Browse the Auction Catalog:

    • Once registered, you can browse through the auction catalog. The catalog will have detailed descriptions, photos, and starting bids for each item.

    • You’ll typically see a button or option to place your bid. The bid increment (the amount by which bids increase) is often set automatically.

    • You can choose to place your bid manually or set a maximum bid, which is the highest amount you are willing to pay. The system will automatically bid on your behalf up to that amount as other people place bids.

  5. Monitor the Auction:

    • Watch your items closely as the auction end time approaches. You can place new bids if other bidders are outbidding you.

    • Some auctions may have a proxy bid feature, where the platform bids for you up to your maximum bid to keep you in the running.

  6. Winning the Auction:

    • If you’re the highest bidder at the close of the auction, you’ll receive a notification that you’ve won the item.

    • You’ll be asked to complete your payment through the platform (credit card, PayPal, etc.).

  7. Pay and Arrange Pickup/Delivery:

    • After payment is confirmed, you'll arrange for shipping or pick-up of your item(s). Some auctions allow you to pick up items in person, while others will ship them to you.

Online bidding is easy once you get the hang of it. Just be sure to set your maximum bid if you don’t want to constantly monitor the auction!
